A high-acuity healthcare facility in Upstate New York is launching a new Universal Care Unit, designed to flex between Intermediate (SCU) and Critical (ICU) levels of care. We are seeking experienced and adaptable Critical Care Registered Nurses to support this unit during its initial launch phase.
This role is ideal for confident, autonomous RNs who excel in fast-paced and evolving environments. Travel RNs will have a hands-on role in patient care delivery, clinical workflows, and early-stage process improvement.
RNs must be comfortable floating to Med/Tele units as needed and managing common ICU drips and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:Provide safe, high-quality care to patients with varying acuity levels
Manage and titrate ICU drips such as:
Heparin
Insulin
Cardizem
Levophed
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and remote intensivist support
Float to Med/Tele units during low ICU census
Contribute to unit development, workflow optimization, and quality/process improvement initiatives
Active RN license in NY (or compact-eligible)
Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a hospital setting
Strong critical thinking and ability to work independently
Comfortable in new unit/startup environments
Proficiency with EMR systems and standard ICU equipment
Familiarity with PDSA cycles or quality improvement projects is a plus
Must pass standard compliance screenings
